The Caterpillar department is housed between six, bright and airy rooms, within the Upper floor of the Main house, each room is dedicated to an area of learning and development in the EYFS. (For example, Physical development, Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding the World.) These rooms are purposefully organised to enable children to gain greater choice and freedom for free-flow play to explore, develop and extend their imagination and learning further. Practitioners take the children’s lead and interact sensitively to enhance activities and encourage critical thinking, and to engage and model appropriate language and next steps.
Many children of this age are toilet training and children are taken to the toilet at regular intervals and supervised at all times. The children are also encouraged to become independent at this time by learning how to wash and dry their own hands.
We have introduced a nursery app called famly, to record photographs, development together with the achievements your child makes at nursery.
